stone circles Vision

The Stone House is a place for the cultivation of freedom.

The Stone House offers transformational experiences to activists in an atmosphere of deep spiritual life and a framework of strategic action for social justice. We work to inspire a dynamic exchange between progressive action and committed spiritual reflection, between individual and collective liberation and transformation. We do this in the context of 70 acres of farmland in the piedmont of central North Carolina. We seek to use the space, the wisdom and the possibilities that the land provides to support the work and deepen its relevance in the world.

We work towards a world in which:

activists and leaders achieve greater victory in their quest for justice and have access to the highest forms of internal freedom, health, and wisdom

organizations, groups and other collectives have the tools and the will to integrate reflection into our daily lives, organizational forms, strategy and relationships

people connect to each other through communities of learning and practice which allow for greater sustainability, happiness, and effectiveness

we create effective strategies for organizing that are rooted in a deep understanding of transformation and an ability to meet challenges with equanimity

a broad range of people consider themselves spiritual activists — whether their primary effort is in their homes, their organizations, their communities, or their bodies and minds.

Our Work

Our vision comes alive through three intersecting areas of engagement:

Spiritual Life and Transformative Practice
